ED ROBINSON – Founder & Owner
Since 1971, Ed has been in the diving industry on Maui. In 1982, he branched off on his own and formed the original Hawaiian Watercolors company which is still the name he uses for marketing his underwater photography. Through the years, Ed Robinson’s Diving Adventures has continued to grow in recognition as a premier dive operation in Hawaii. Ed’s high standards of professionalism and customer service are the foundation of the company’s continuing success.

BYRD GLEASON – Boat Operations Manager
Although Byrd has been with ERDA for over thirty years, he has been friends with Ed Robinson since the late ’70s, when they both worked for a dive shop in Lahaina. Byrd’s management skills mixed in with the perfect balance of people skills allows him to provide the highest level of service for our divers, and at the same time provide an enjoyable working environment. Many of you who have chosen to dive with us year after year enjoy our nonexistent rate of turn over, which is rare, and a direct result of our closeness as a diving family. Byrd’s great management and leadership skills are a large part of ERDA’s professionalism. He has an added tie to ERDA since he met his bride, Kim, when she was a customer on one of his charters.

Kim is one of the most patient and knowledgeable guides to join the crew. She brings to each charter her extensive knowledge of the marine life, and her ability to make even newly certified divers feel at home in the ocean. She shares her knowledge freely, and is always looking to be of service to the divers. Kim has an added interest in the company since she met her hubby, Byrd, while diving with ERDA as a customer!

Tiffany has been with ERDA for several years and her love of diving is readily apparent, both above and underwater. Tiffany’s newest accomplishment was to get certified as a rebreather instructor. She and her husband had an amazing encounter with a pod of whales which made the national news. You can watch the video here. Come out and dive with Tiffany for a wonderful experience!

Joe Obernier grew up and started diving in Pennsylvania where he became an instructor for SSI, TDI and SDI, teaching for 4 years. After completing a PADI instructor crossover, Joe went to Cabo San Lucas to each and kayak until he moved to Maui and landed a job as a snuba instructor. After two years of snuba and sailing under his belt, Joe got his position with ERDA in 2005. When Joe’s not taking divers on underwater adventures, he enjoys spending time with his two children, traveling on dive trips around the world with his beautiful wife or diving with his rebreather.

Dave Fuller joined the ERDA dive team at Christmas 2011. A Philadelphia native, he was employed by several top Maui restaurants in his former profession as a chef. He was a deckhand for a couple of years before joining ERDA as a dive master in 2011. Customers remember his bad jokes and numerous food recommendations; they also remember his easy going style and passion for diving. You can find Dave diving on the boat on his days off. He just can’t seem to get enough!

Jose moved to Maui in 2001 from his native Venezuela. Jose, a PADI instructor, worked in the scuba industry on Maui before taking a break to concentrate on his teaching credentials and real estate license. He returns to the ocean as ERDA’S most recent hire. Jose is happy to get back into the BLUE water. He is the proud father of Sophia. He juggles a busy schedule between the boat, a food runner at the Kealani, part time substitute teacher and real estate. Welcome Jose!

Kerry has been living on Maui and diving in its beautiful waters for 25 years. She has been a PADI Master Instructor for 20 years, certified over 1,000+ students and worked with ERDA for the past 10 years. With her many years of experience, Kerry is an excellent and patient instructor. If you are interested in trying out diving or learning to scuba dive, she would love to take you underwater to see the other half of Maui and show you some of her favorite critters, such as nudibranchs and frog fish.

Charlie Dolfun is known by 3 different names: the Zen Master of Scuba, the Old Man of the Sea, and our favorite, “DolFUN.” Charlie has been on Maui teaching scuba for over 4 decades, bringing a wealth of experience to making diving safe and easy for novices (teaching scuba from the shoreline) as well as those with advanced knowledge and divers looking to obtain instructor certifications. Charlie is now working with Ed Robinson’s Diving Adventures after leading his own scuba company. He has been friends with Ed and Suzzy for many years and promises a smile, a song, and a full tank of adventure. His motto: “No one knows FUN like a DOLFUN.”

Robyn has been associated with Ed Robinson Diving Adventures for over 12 years now – seven years as one of our best divers and over 6 years as the store manager. Her love of diving is apparent when you call to book your dives and she is frequently diving on the boat on her days off. Robyn also loves helping you experience the best of Maui. She helps numerous divers in finding a place to stay or recommending other activities.

Dave Lovejoy has been working in the dive store for over 2-1/2 years and enjoys working with our divers. Dave was an instructor for the YMCA for 30 years while living in West Virginia. He and his beautiful wife, Lori, decided to make a change and moved west to Maui. They are thoroughly loving our magical island!

Leslie has been a resident of Maui for three and a half decades and comes to us from one of the original Molokini snorkeling tour companies dating back to the early 80’s. Leslie’s extensive knowledge of Maui is apparent as is her dry sense of humor! Call her to book your dives while here on Maui!

SUZZY ROBINSON – PADI Certified Dive Master

Suzzy Robinson, known as “The Snorkel Whisperer” is a Certified Dive Master, and has held a 100 Ton Coast Guard Captain’s License for over 20 years. She has experience spanning the past four decades organizing and guiding more than 30 International Dive Tours to some of the most remote and pristine ocean destinations around the world. A few of those include Papua New Guinea, The Galapagos Islands, Raja Ampat and The Andaman Islands.

Suzzy’s inspiration and loyal commitment to the dive industry stem from both her love of the ocean, and the driving desire to educate people about 1) the wonders of the underwater world and 2) the challenges our precious marine environment is facing today. This has led Suzzy to contribute to several marine books and countless articles, as well as being a widely-published underwater photo model.

Suzzy has received numerous awards, and was a 2013 “Women Divers Hall of Fame” Nominee. She garnered praise from publications like Sunset Magazine for her ability to passionately weave a lifetime of experience into every dive or snorkel trip that she shares, making each adventure exciting and memorable for all. Suzzy created Maui Snorkel Tours over 20 years ago, and currently introduces about 2000 people a year to the reefs and waters of Hawai’i.

She has partnered with the Make-A-Wish® Foundation, a non-profit organization that grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy. Some of Suzzy’s most appreciated, touching and meaningful moments have been sharing snorkeling with these children and their families.

As an “Ambassador of the Ocean,” Suzzy feels deeply fortunate for the opportunity to spend time in the water while inspiring others to respect, protect and appreciate our marine environment. Suzzy looks forward to passing that preservation on to you, your family, and for generations to come.

We won’t have a good day if you don’t – Let’s Go Diving!

Aloha! I want to thank the captain and crew of the Sea Spirit for a fantastic experience diving at Molokini at Crater. This was the first dive I've taken without my own buddy in tow, so I was hoping to find at least one friendly diver on the boat. Instead I found 3 crew that instantly felt like friends and a small group of fun loving divers who all stayed together safely as a group, guided by Ricardo who pointed out all the interesting creatures below, from sea turtle to octopus. It was like a dream and I can't wait to return to Maui for more diving. Mahalo!!

Jennifer Pandino

We dove with 3 different outfits in Maui. All were very good, but yours was the best. The Adventure-X trip on Wednesdays was perfect. We dive a lot at home and prefer being around advanced divers. Ed's crew handles dives perfectly: no rushing, maximum bottom time, safety. The backside of Molokini was amazing. Also, splitting the 2nd tank into two short dives was very considerate. Other operations would have burned the entire tank at one location. We'll be back!

This is my third trip to Maui and diving with Ed Robinson's diving Adventures and I LOVE IT. I probably did anywhere between 50 and 60 dives with ERDA, Molokini back and forth and along the East Coast of Maui knowing all the cool reefs, wrecks and 'secret' spots. Not only I always enjoy the 'hang loose' characters of the dive masters and boat crew, no it's like meeting friends and almost family. Been 'lured' to other dive ops around Maui but keep bouncing back to ERDA. As an enthusiastic diver, photographer and videographer it's a great pleasure to go back to the SEA DIVER and SEA SPIRIT every week. There is no better Maui diving than with Ed and his excellent crew. Mahalo and Mele Kalikimaka.
